Abides to the departmental standards, policies, procedures, and protocols while ensuring a safe environment through the implementation of best practices and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) scheduling in line with industry standards. Collaborates with Biomedical Engineers/Technicians, strives for optimal efficiency and safety, and escalates outdated or inefficient equipment for replacement planning. Maintains comprehensive inventory records, arranges equipment training, recommends necessary resources, and oversees spare parts inventory and purchasing. Reviews and negotiates equipment contracts, evaluates new products for future planning, participates in ongoing educational activities, oversees acceptance testing for new equipment, ensures compliance with maintenance policies, provides constructive feedback to peers, and assists in service planning and expansion within the hospital.

  • Implements and complies with the department’s standards, policies, procedures and protocols as they relate to Biomedical Engineering Services.
  • Secures a safe environment by implementing best practices and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) scheduling to Emergency Care Research Institute (ECRI)/Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) and other industry standards.
  • Works with the Biomedical Engineers/Technicians to ensure optimal efficiency and continuous safe practices.
  • Escalates outdated/inefficient equipment to the Director of Biomedical Engineering for a replacement plan.
  • Monitors all Hospital Medical equipment inventory and its entirety to keep the Oracle (iFusion) updated with the current equipment.
  • Arranges the training of medical equipment across the hospital by the vendors to end users.
  • Recommends, and advises the specifications of necessary resources for effective service provision including subcontracted services.
  • Reviews reports of the updated spare parts count inventory and requests purchasing in replenishing the low-stock spare parts.
  • Reviews and negotiates hospital equipment contracts as per requirement of the hospital.
  • Evaluates new products/machines for future planning.
  • Participates in ongoing educational activities related to Biomedical Engineering.
  • Oversees the initial acceptance testing for all the hospital medical equipment.
  • Ensures the compliance of all medical equipment with the hospital’s preventive and corrective maintenance policy.
  • Provides peers with constructive feedback regarding their practice.
  • Answers to any medical equipment maintenance request needed throughout the hospital.
  • Participates in the planning of new and expansion of existing services.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional Chartered Engineer preferred
  • UAE Driver's license preferred

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Biomedical Engineering with a proven record of diagnostic testing and repairs on a wide range of Medical devices
  • Knowledge of medical purchasing and contract administration
  • Knowledge of current regulatory and safety requirements
  • Skills in Supervisory Management
  • Skills in computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office such as Outlook, Word, Presentation, and Excel)
  • Skills in decision-making and critical-thinking
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure and solve problems
