Brandeis Online, within Brandeis University's Graduate Professional Studies (GPS), is seeking a visionary and accomplished industry leader to serve as the Program Chair for the Master of Science in Applied Leadership and the Master’s Certificate in AI-Driven Leadership. About the Position The Program Chair serves as the subject matter expert for their program of responsibility, ensuring academic rigor, innovation, and alignment with industry trends. This is a consultative, part-time position, requiring approximately 2-3 hours per week and associated with a 12-month renewable contract, subject to annual performance reviews. Duties can be performed remotely using appropriate technologies.

Responsibilities:

Industry Expertise and Outreach

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for program inquiries and outreach efforts.

  • Assist with the selection of the Program Advisory Board members and participate in biannual professional advisory board meetings.

  • Lead and engage in program-related community-building activities, such as LinkedIn groups, webinars, and blogs, to promote thought leadership.

  • Participate in the hiring process for new faculty, ensuring candidates possess the necessary industry expertise.

  • Provide career guidance and mentorship for program students.

Curriculum and Operations

  • Lead program and curricular reviews at least every two years to maintain relevance and currency, coordinating with Brandeis Online's Assistant Director of Online Learning & QA.

  • Offer recommendations on course and program content adjustments based on industry trends and emerging research.

  • Approve applications for course revisions and new course development to ensure alignment with program learning outcomes.

  • Review faculty performance summaries at the end of each session.

  • Meet individually with program faculty at least once annually and host a full program meeting once per academic year.

  • Teach a course within the program at least once a year, as needed by the Brandeis Online program.

Marketing

  • Collaborate on program messaging and course promotion efforts.

  • Support program-related community-building initiatives such as online groups, webinars, and content marketing efforts.

Student Services and Support

  • Advise 5-10 students annually on course selection and provide career-specific guidance, as requested by the GPS Student Services team.

  • Support career services programming and events in collaboration with Student Services.

  • Provide subject matter expertise for escalated grade complaints and course waiver requests, consulting with the Assistant Director of Online Faculty Relations.

Admissions

  • Serve on the admissions committee and provide application decisions within one week of assignment.

  • Review requests for transfer credits and respond to prospective student inquiries requiring in-depth subject matter expertise.

  • Attend and co-moderate information sessions for prospective students.

Qualifications:

  • Required:

    • Master’s degree in Leadership, Artificial Intelligence, Organizational Development, or a closely related field (terminal degree preferred).

    • Employed in a leadership role with expertise in navigating emerging trends, industry challenges, and technological advancements.

    • Prior college or university teaching experience is preferred.

    • Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, and responsiveness.

    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and make informed decisions.

  • Preferred:

    • Familiarity with online education best practices and instructional design.

    • Experience leading interdisciplinary or industry-focused academic programs.

    • Strong connections with industry professionals and thought leaders.

About the Programs:

The Master of Science in Applied Leadership equips professionals with advanced leadership skills, strategic decision-making capabilities, and interdisciplinary expertise. The program integrates two 12-credit master’s certificates with leadership-focused coursework, allowing students to customize their education for cross-sector mobility and career growth.

The AI-Driven Leadership Master’s Certificate focuses on leadership principles and AI applications, preparing professionals to strategically implement AI, address ethical challenges, and foster data-driven innovation in their organizations.
