As Relyance AI’s Manager, Software Engineering (ML), you will lead and grow a team of talented ML engineers focused on developing cutting-edge NLP and machine learning solutions for information extraction and code analysis. You will be responsible for the team's strategy, execution, and delivery of high-impact AI features, ensuring alignment with company goals and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. You will also play a key role in shaping the technical direction of our AI initiatives and driving the adoption of best practices in machine learning engineering.

As a Manager, Software Engineering (ML), your role will include:

  • Team Leadership and Management: Recruit, hire, onboard, mentor, and manage a team of ML engineers, fostering their professional growth and development. Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and address any team issues.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with product management and other stakeholders to define the team's roadmap, set priorities, and ensure alignment with overall company objectives. Contribute to the long-term vision for Relyance AI's AI capabilities.
  • Project Execution and Delivery: Oversee the design, development, and deployment of ML/NLP solutions, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the team and across departments.
  • Technical Guidance and Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting best practices in ML engineering, software development, and system architecture. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in ML/NLP and evaluate their potential application to our products.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in the team's processes, workflows, and tools to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality. Foster a data-driven culture, encouraging the use of metrics to track progress and measure impact.

This role could be a fit for you if you bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a management or team lead role, preferably in the ML/NLP domain.
  • Proven track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams, including experience in recruiting, hiring, and developing talent.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning and natural language processing concepts, algorithms, and techniques.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence and align stakeholders across different functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, etc.) and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).

Bonus points for:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Experience with information extraction, semantic parsing, and practical application of LLMs.
  • Startup experience.
  • Experience with privacy technologies.
