Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated student (m/f/diverse) to start this internship and/or thesis to contribute to our efforts in optimizing manufacturing processes through data-driven solutions. This internship / thesis provides a unique opportunity to work on real-world industrial challenges using machine learning techniques.

Our Machine Intelligence department as part of the Manufacturing Technology Engineering organization at our location Hannover-Stöcken oversees bringing robust and innovative AI models to the industrial machinery that manufactures tires. We are also working on topics like measurement systems, extended reality, and robotics.

Within this exciting work environment, we are offering a thesis and/or an internship starting as soon as possible (June 2025) and with a duration of  6 months. The internship can also be combined with the thesis.

Tasks include:

  • Develop and implement machine learning models to analyze complex manufacturing processes.
  • Collect, preprocess, and analyze structured and unstructured data from production systems.
  • Experiment with various computer vision, time-series algorithms, and feature engineering techniques to improve model performance.

Qualifications

  • Students (m/f/diverse) that study computer science, mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar, with a specialization in data science
  • Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Pytorch etc.
  • Knowledge in dealing with image, time-series, and tabular data
  • Very good English language skills (written and spoken)
  • German language skills are an advantage
  • Good communication skills
