Walmart is investing in transforming the Global Sourcing business by enhancing the user experience with the latest technology and we are looking for talented individuals who can use their engineering and leadership skills to help our teams solve complex problems. You will be part of the application development team leading software design and implementation, problem solving, as our customers evolve and adapt, we are taking it a few notches further here. Walmart Global Tech is at the forefront of AI innovation, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to redefine customer experiences. We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with deep expertise in Generative AI, LLMs, and scalable system design to drive impactful solutions.

 

Role Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design and deploy AI systems using LLMs, RAG frameworks, and advanced agentic techniques. In this role, you will focus on building scalable pipelines, integrating external data sources, and collaborating with teams to deliver high-impact AI-driven products.

 

What You will Do

AI Development & Agentic Frameworks:

• Design and implement Generative AI solutions utilizing RAG for summarization, and knowledge retrieval.
• Build and integrate LLM-based agents that utilize vector search technologies to provide dynamic, real-time responses.
• Fine-tune and optimize models for specific business needs and tasks.

System Design & Scalability:

• Contribute to building scalable, distributed systems that integrate machine learning pipelines.
• Translate high-level designs into detailed solutions, including mock-ups, pseudo-code, and modular components.
• Design and implement MVPs to validate and refine AI-driven features.

Collaboration & Integration:

• Support architectural decisions to ensure alignment with both functional and non-functional requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices.

Leadership & Mentorship:

• Drive technical direction for large-scale AI initiatives and mentor junior engineers.
• Establish best practices for building and maintaining AI-driven systems.

 

What You Will Bring

• 6+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, with a 2+ years focus on Generative AI and NLP.
• Proficiency in Python, ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow), and NLP libraries like Hugging Face Transformers.
• Hands-on experience with RAG frameworks, vector search tools and knowledge grounding techniques.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, scalable architectures, and cloud platforms (GCP, Azure).
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, disaster recovery strategies, and non-functional requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with multi-modal models and advanced optimization techniques.
• Experience with Generative AI models (e.g., GPT, Gemini) and their fine-tuning.
• Contributions to open-source projects or AI research publications.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in distributed environments.
