Act as a Trusted Advisor

The Incident Coordination team is part of the Infrastructure Engineering & Operations group. We're a team whose goals are ensuring that incidents are quickly mitigated, incident status is well communicated. We also ensure necessary and sufficient steps are taken, reducing the risk of recurrence of such incidents.

About the Team

You will be responsible for resolving major incidents that impact customers and/or our platform. You will identify the severity of incidents that warrant scrutiny. Thus ensuring priority is given to incidents based on the impact and/or hazards. The team will evaluate many factors to define the initial severity and the subsequent mitigation actions.

As an Incident Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Working to accurately define the severity level for incidents, ensuring proper priority is assigned to visible issues.
  • Demonstrating an ability to quickly evaluate the overall impact of a given situation.
  • Identifying, gathering, and leading a team of technical and non-technical people to mitigate complex incidents.
  • Directing the troubleshooting and/or resource gathering of activities and engage other functions as required.
  • Driving internal communication to ensure incident progress / status is communicated in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that Incident Phase 2 and Phase 3 actions are holistic and will prevent Incident Recurrence.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have relevant experience as an Incident Manager with developed analytical and technical writing skills.
  • Have knowledge of various internet related technologies (HTTP, DNS, network protocols, Unix, streaming).
  • Be a good communicator who can disseminate information (verbal and written) in a clear manner.
  • Be self-motivated and a team player capable of managing multiple priorities and commitments.
  • Have experience developing methods and best practices for delivering outstanding service and participating in knowledge sharing.
  • Be a team player who enjoys working in a dynamic and sometimes high pressure atmosphere.
