Job Title: Electro-Mechanical EngineerLocation: Redwood City
Role Summary:As an Electro-Mechanical Engineer at Dexterity, you will take a hands-on role in optimizing and refining our robotic systems. Working in our robotics lab, you will prototype, build, and test electro-mechanical solutions, directly contributing to the troubleshooting, validation, and optimization of our systems. You will collaborate closely with hardware, software, and controls engineers to ensure reliable, scalable, and manufacturable designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-On Prototyping & Testing: Build and iterate on robotic solutions, conducting hands-on debugging, troubleshooting, and performance testing. Develop and execute test plans for component and system-level validation.
  • Lab & Field Testing: Conduct experiments in lab and real-world environments, using diagnostic tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.) to analyze performance and improve designs.
  • Electro-Mechanical System Integration & Debugging: Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical and electrical systems seamlessly. Identify and resolve system-level issues through hands-on troubleshooting and design improvements.
  • Manufacturing Support: Provide design feedback to optimize manufacturability (DFM/DFA) and collaborate with the design and the Global Services teams to ensure smooth production and deployment of the robotic solutions.
  • Technical Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of test results, troubleshooting procedures, and modifications for seamless knowledge transfer.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience:7+ years of hands-on experience as an Engineering Technician or Electro-Mechanical engineer in electro-mechanical systems, preferably in robotics, automation, or related fields. Experience with high-volume manufacturing is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, NX) and electrical schematic design tools.Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multimeters for debugging and validation.Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach to troubleshooting.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with robotics control systems and sensors
  • Experience with PLCs and embedded systems
  • Knowledge of safety standards in electro-mechanical design
