Role Purpose
This role is within the WesBank Data Office team. The purpose is to deliver analytical insights that supports the retail business at large, with special focus on Private Banking and Advisory as our main stakeholder. Some of the core team deliverables refer to Customer Segmentation and Data Feature Engineering. This is achieved through robust data modelling and analysis as well as statistical modelling.
Key responsibilities
- Good understanding of Data Analytics in a large financial services organisation.
- Understand both the technical points of Data Management and Analytics, as well as the business drivers and needs.
- Understands how to work with big data and transform data to be suited for modelling or other analytical insights.
- Strong technical and coding proficiency (SAS & SQL).
- Hard working individual that can work well under pressure.
- Able to translate business requirements into tangible, creative solutions with guidance.

Qualification and Experience
- Minimum Qualification: B Degree in Mathematical Sciences, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related degree
- Preferred Qualification: Honours Degree
- Experience: 1 - 2 years’ experience within Data Analytics or Customer Analytics
- Experience in Model development, maintenance and optimisation of existing models will be advantageous.
- Intermediate level of proficiency to code in SQL is required
- Intermediate level of proficiency to code in SAS will be advantageous
- Intermediate skills in Python or R would be beneficial
