The Orthopedic Surgery Technology Enhancement and Optimization (“OSTEO”) is a leading orthopedics group focused on developing and implementing innovative applications using artificial intelligence in the clinical setting. Data Scientists within OSTEO will have the opportunity to work within a vibrant group of surgeons and research personnel focused on transforming the clinical orthopedic practice through the implementation and creation of artificial intelligence applications. This position will have the opportunity to work with the Orthopedic Surgery AI LAB (OSAIL) to implement projects with clinical impact.
Data Science Analysts for this position will:
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, implement, and validate pioneering AI-based approaches to solve complex data problems that impact clinical practice.
- Optimize existing AI tools for use within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
- Creation of de novo AI tools.
- Present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences to drive the implementation of developed tools.

To be successful, the candidate must have:
- Experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Working knowledge of Software as a Medical Device.
- Fluency in Python, or another programming language used for data science
- A strong grasp of deep learning and machine learning fundamentals and frameworks (PyTorch, Scikit-Learn)
- Some exposure to database technologies, such as SQL
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, health science, or other analytical/quantitative and a minimum of three years of professional or research experience in data science will be considered.
The preferred candidate will possess a Masters or Doctoral degree in a relevant field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, health science, or other analytical/quantitative field and a minimum of one year of professional or research experience in data science.
Additional Qualifications:
Post-graduate degree (MS, PhD, or MD, completed or near completion) in biomedical data science, informatics, computer science, engineering, statistics, computational biology, or a related field, with a background or interest in imaging
