We are seeking a Research Associate in Molecular Biology to help develop new approaches to genetically alter cellular biology and scale these approaches for use in our foundational Phenomics assay. As a Research Associate you will be responsible for helping drive projects forward at the wet bench by producing high quality data. This will require leveraging your skills and knowledge of traditional molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, and microscopy.

  • Influence - Perform a driving role in the strategic development of Recursion’s genetic engineering capabilities.
  • Collaborate - Work in a cross-functional matrix organization with fellow biologists, chemists, data scientists, and data engineers with a passion for drug discovery.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, or related Life Sciences field

  • 2+ years of applicable hands-on experience in a molecular or cell biology focused research lab beyond undergraduate studies
  • Hands on mammalian cell culture experience required
  • Standard molecular biology techniques, such as: PCR, RT-qPCR, gene structure and sequence annotation, westerns, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, DNA/RNA extraction, sanger sequencing, etc.
  • Using the CRISPR-Cas9 system in a research setting
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures
  • Able to work as part of a team to produce high quality, decision driving data
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems that may adversely affect experiment performance and data quality
  • Familiarity with data analysis and graphing software, such as ApE, GraphPad Prism or Spotfire
  • Ability to quickly become proficient with new software systems
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills

Nice to have experience:

  • Pharma/biotech industry research lab experience is preferred
  • Experience transfecting and/or transducing mammalian cell cultures preferred
  • Experience culturing and manipulating neuronal cell types
  • Experience with automation
