The Opportunity

Venturis is looking for a Data Scientist to join our team in Surrey, BC. As the Data Scientist you will focus on predictive modeling, machine learning, and the development of complex data algorithms to optimize B2B e-commerce strategies, enhance customer experiences, and drive business growth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As the Data Scientist your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement predictive models and machine learning algorithms to enhance e-commerce strategies
  • Analyze large datasets to uncover patterns, trends, and insights that drive business decisions
  • Design and execute experiments to test new data sources and methodologies
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, including Google BigQuery, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL
  • Conduct complex data analysis and modeling to support business objectives
  • Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data infrastructure supports advanced analytics
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reports using advanced data visualization tools like Looker (formerly Google Data Studio)
  • Present data insights and findings to stakeholders through detailed reports and presentations
  • Conduct in-depth customer segmentation, cohort analysis, and predictive analytics to understand B2B customer behaviors and preferences
  • Leverage data science techniques to optimize customer journeys and enhance user experiences
  • Work closely with marketing, sales, and IT teams to align data initiatives with business goals
  • Provide support to internal teams by ensuring data-driven insights are integrated into decision-making processes
  • Develop and implement best practices for data collection, modeling, KPI development, and reporting
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data science and machine learning
  • Lead and mentor the E-Commerce data team, guiding them toward best practices and innovative solutions

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

  • Post-secondary education in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Proven experience in a Data Scientist role, or comparable, preferably in a B2B e-commerce setting
  • Proficiency with data analysis and machine learning tools such as Python, R, TensorFlow, and Scikit-learn
  • Strong SQL skills, with experience in Google BigQuery, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with customer behavior analysis and predictive modeling
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Leadership qualities and the desire to grow into a team leadership role

The base pay range for this role is: $90,000 to $115,000 annually, depending on experience.

This is a hybrid role based in Surrey, BC.
